Tripel is a heavy top-fermenting beer, with the color varying between (golden) blonde and amber. A Tripel beer usually has a strong malty and/or hop bitter taste. Tripel has a relatively high alcohol content of 7 to 10%. The high percentage is partly due to the addition of sugar, this also makes the beer sweeter.
